The calibre 707 was made as an observatory movement, specifically for chronometer competitions and never commercially sold.
It was nicknamed "the potato" because of the movements triangular, ovoid shape. Designed in 1961/1962 and built-in 1963.
It was the last one designed specificity for observatory's competitions by Zenith. The unusual form of the movement was a result of the competition requirements that stated a specific maximum movement surface area.
